Fashion and decorating magazine, Domino, will close after its March issue, Conde Naste announced today.  The New York Times reported today that most of the 80 jobs at the magazine will be lost.  The three-year-old magazine – targeted at women – saw its advertising revenues tumble more than 26 percent in the last year, the Times report said.

The decorating/home style magazines have been taking a beating in the last year.  Among the departed include: In Style Home, Cottage Living, Blueprint, Country Home, O at Home, Home, Vogue Living, and House & Garden.  This has always been a competitive category for advertising dollars, but this is getting ridiculous.

And where the heck are consumers going to get advice on matching pillows to the drapes or finding that killer cupcake recipe?

In all seriousness though, the free-falling economy has sucker punched damaged media properties, already losing ground to the Web.  It is going to be a long and painful year for journalists, writers and editors.  The only question right now is which magazine or newspaper is going to be next?
